No need to test newborns. Most young adults know if they potentially carry the gene. If a grandparent has it, they have a 1 in 4 chance of carrying it. And if they have it, there is a 50-50 chance their newborn has it.
If I had a grandparent with HD, I would get a DNA test for the disease before deciding to have kids.
